Deputy County Manager Ashley Jacobs provides executive oversight for the departments of Communications, Community Services (GIS, Wake County Public Libraries, Parks, Recreation & Open Space, Planning, Development & Inspections), Fire Services, Emergency Management, and Information Services, and serves as a liaison to the City-County Bureau of Identification. She provides leadership in support of the County’s goals of Growth and Sustainability, Public Safety, and Digital Equity.
Jacobs joined Wake County in June 2021. Prior to joining Wake, Jacobs served as County Administrator for Beaufort County, S.C., Assistant County Administrator for Aiken County, S.C., Deputy County Administrator for Dorchester County, S.C., and Assistant County Administrator for Richland County, S.C.
Jacobs holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Clemson University and a Master of Public Administration from the University of South Carolina and is a member of Pi Alpha Alpha Honor Society. She is a graduate of the Harvard Kennedy School’s Senior Executives in State and Local Government, the ICMA Gettysburg Leadership Institute and Leadership South Carolina, and is a former President of the League of Women in Government. She is a member of the North Carolina City-County Management Association and serves on the Membership Support and Collaboration with MPA Programs Committees.
