The Health & Human Services Board is a policy and advocacy board for both the Health and Human Services and Environmental Services Departments. The board represents the broad interest of the community and performs duties required by law.
Overview
The Health & Human Services Board serves the community by providing policy guidance and advocacy for the prevention of disease and promotion of public health, social services and environmental programs. Some of the Board’s specific functions are to:
- Set policy,
- Review agency services,
- Monitor progress toward outcomes,
- Advocate for needed changes in service delivery and resource allocation, and
- Advise the Health & Human Services Director and Environmental Services Director.
The Board comprises two standing committees: the Public Health Committee and Social Services Committee. These committees address the board's priorities through individual work plans.
