Project Summary
On November 20, 2023, the Wake County Board of Commissioners approved a construction contract with G & G Builders of Wendell, Inc. for the Apex Main EMS Station at 6950 Apex Barbecue Road, Apex, NC. This new EMS substation will replace an existing substation located on Highway 55 in Apex, NC.
The new facility will be approximately 4,300 square feet and will feature three emergency response unit bays, state-of-the-art dayroom with the latest communication technologies, kitchen and dining space, supervisor’s office, bathrooms with showers, locker room, multi-purpose room, and support space. The site will feature a dual-port electric vehicle charging station, stormwater control measures, roadway and parking improvements, bike racks, flagpole, covered patio, and park bench.
Construction is anticipated to begin in early 2024, and the station will be open for service in early 2025.
