Wake County EMS System units are in place for emergency 9-1-1 initiated responses.

There are private organizations franchised to operate in Wake County to provide non-emergency ambulance services. Examples may be scheduled medical appointments, patient transport from hospital back to residence, routine transport between medical facilities, or other non-emergency services.

It is important to note that the use of services that are not part of the Wake County EMS 9-1-1 response system are not covered by the EMS Fund, which can relieve subscribers of responsibility for remaining balances on EMS use billing.
