The annual cleanup at Lake Johnson is back! Volunteers can walk or paddle to pick up trash throughout the park. Lunch and beverages will be provided at the end of the cleanup by the Friends of Lake Johnson Association. Drinking water, sunscreen, and a hat are recommended.
Volunteers must be at least 10 years old. Those under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Everyone who volunteers must sign a release form. Those under 18 years of age will need a parent/guardian to sign their form. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old to use a paddle craft without an adult.
Volunteers will check in between 9 a.m. and 9:45 a.m. at the Thomas G. Crowder Woodland Center at 5611 Jaguar Park Drive behind Athens Drive High School. Volunteers will then walk approximately half a mile to the Waterfront Program Center where the clean-up will take place. The clean-up will take place from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Lunch will be available from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Patrons may bring and use their own paddle craft (motorized craft are not allowed). The park will provide boats to volunteers on a first come, first serve basis. No pets are allowed on City paddle craft. All volunteers on boats must wear a life vest/PFD. If you are bringing a boat, you must provide your own life vest/PFD. Additional volunteers who register and do not have a boat will do a litter cleanup on the trails.
Registration is required and limited to the first 100 registrants.
