Scrap Tires from Residents
Wake County residents may dispose off 5 or less scrap tires free of charge at Wake County Facilities. For residents with more than 5 tires, please contact Wake County for additional information.
Scrap Tires from Businesses
All tire retailers, scrap tire collectors, scrap tire processors and/or scrap tire haulers must provide a NC Scrap Tire Certification Form with Part 1 and Part 2 completed and signed in order to use Wake County Scrap Tire Facilities. For non-passenger oversized tire disposal see below – under Oversized Tires – for more information.

Part 1 is to be completed by the tire retailer or generator of the tires.

Part 2 is to be completed by the scrap tire hauler dropping off the tires at a Wake County Scrap Tire Facility. Please note that all scrap tire haulers must be registered by the Division of Waste Management - Solid Waste Section with a valid hauler's ID Number. Tire retailers who haul only their scrap tires may use their state sales tax number as the ID number in Part 2. The County may also require retailers to provide a completed E-500G Scrap Tire Disposal Tax form.

Unacceptable Items
Cut tires, tires with rims, construction equipment tracks, oversized farm or construction equipment tires, tires from tire dumps or cleanups.
Tires bought or sold outside of North Carolina are not eligible for disposal at Wake County Facilities.
