Wake County Solid Waste Management Division manages three Multi-Material Recycling Facilities for businesses and residents to drop-off recyclable items.
Service Update
Convenience Center Site 6 at 3913 Lillie Liles Road, is unable to accept bulky waste because of equipment failure. Residents who need to recycle cardboard or dispose of bulky items such as furniture should use Convenience Center Site 7 at 9024 Deponie Drive, until further notice.
Beginning Nov. 1, mattresses and box springs can only be disposed of at Convenience Centers 1, 2, 4, 7 and 11. Residents may only bring two (2) mattresses/box springs per day. Additional mattresses/box springs may be brought to the shredder at the South Wake Landfill for a processing fee of $10 per mattress.
Acceptable Items
- Cardboard (clean, flattened, all packing material removed)
- Cooking oil
- Electronics (TVs, cell phones, computers, monitors, game consoles, stereos, microwaves, any corded device)
- Large appliances (A/C and heating units, refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, water heaters)
- Motor oil and Antifreeze (NO DRUMS, must be able to pour into collection tank)
- Oil filters
- Scrap metal (North and South Wake only)
- Wood Pallets (North and South Wake only, limit of 10)

Closed on New Year's Day, Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve (noon) and Christmas Day
Site Rules
- Scavenging or removal of any items from Wake County Solid Waste Facilities is strictly prohibited.
- No exchange of materials allowed on site.
- All open-body vehicles transporting waste must be secured to prevent blown and spilled debris.
- No person may loiter at the facility.
- Children & pets must remain in vehicles at all times.
