Youth Food Security Summit

The Youth Food Security Summit is an annual event that provides youth with the opportunity to gain an understanding of food insecurity through workshops, hands-on activities and guest speakers! We hope to empower high school-aged students to join the conversation about hunger and give them the chance to connect with other passionate youths.

Workshops & Speakers

The summit will feature a keynote speaker and four workshops, one of which will be led by youth. The people and organizations involved will be announced as they are decided.

Volunteer

Adults looking to assist with the summit on the day of the event will need to register and be screened before the event. Register on Sign-Up Genius to volunteer at the event!

Hunger Action Month Partnership with Wake County Public Libraries

Wake Cooperative Extension has partnered with our county libraries to integrate hunger-related themes into their storytime events and provide families with the resources to discuss hunger with their children.

Each of these locations will be collecting food and supplies for people in need. If you attend one of these events, we encourage you to bring food with a long shelf life to donate. Wake County Cooperative Extension will collect these donations from each location.

Soup Jar Assembly at Morrisville Community Library

Fill a mason jar with dried soup ingredients to make a quick and easy dinner. Recipe and materials provided. Wake Cooperative Extension will share information on how to support food security and will accept donations of non-perishable foods.

Kars for Kids Charity Car Show

Join us for the Wake Forest Optimist Club’s annual Kars for Kids Charity Car Show! With over 200 cars of all types, it's always a fantastic event. Tri-Area Ministry will be on-site accepting nonperishable donations. Show your car! It’s a great family-friendly day—bring the kids and check out the cool cars! Spectator admission is free.

Wake Forest CROP Hunger Walk

Please join in us in the fight against hunger on Sunday, September 22nd at the Wake Forest Birthplace as we walk in solidarity with our neighbors who are affected by poverty, hunger, displacement, and disaster.

Pleasant Grove Community Outreach Fair

Come to this awesome community fair in Wendell for free health screening, clothes, food, counseling, and youth advocacy services!
