Camps are more extended programs offered by park staff during the summer months. Blue Jay Point’s camps are offered in a “mini-camp” format and held according to age groups.
General Camp Information
Camp registration is online. Spaces are limited and tend to fill quickly, so register early!
All camps are 3-day camps – held on Monday, Wednesday, Friday
A registration packet, including a health history form, will be emailed before the start of camp.
A parent letter containing important information about how to be prepared for camp will be emailed the week before the start of camp.
Summer Camps
Eco-Kids: Animal Babies Mini-Camp
June 24, 26 & 28 9 a.m.–noon
For 4–5-year-olds Fee: $36/child
Animal babies come in many forms, from the cute fox kit to the interesting larvae of dragonflies. Come learn about the similarities and differences of the many different animal babies.
Dinner from Dirt
July 8, 10 & 12 9 a.m.–4 p.m.
For 9–12-year-olds Fee: $90/child
Have you ever thought about where your food comes from? Whether you are a vegetarian or an omnivore, your food depends on soil, microorganisms and the growers that produce food plants and animals. Experiment with soils and irrigation, investigate insects, try your hand at hydroponic farming, and cook using the sun’s energy. Includes a great field trip and lunch each day!
Note: We will be preparing lunches with the campers that may include gluten, eggs, meat, dairy and other items. Please contact us for further information.
Wild about Water
July 22, 24 & 26 9 a.m.–1 p.m.
For 6–8-year-olds Fee: $48/child
Cool off and drink the same water that dinosaurs drank! Water captures our fancy this week as we explore the water cycle through land-based water games, get acquainted with the Blue Jay pond and the pretty slick critters that live there, focus on fish and our local aquatic food webs, and conduct fun water experiments with this all-important liquid.
Eco Kids: Weather Wonders Mini Camp
August 5, 7 & 9 9 a.m.–noon
For 4–5-year-olds Fee: $36/child
Weather affects all of us! Learn about the many different types of weather in our area, from winter storms to sunny, summer days. Explore tools used to help predict weather and play fun games investigating the climate around us.
Eco Kids Mini-Camps
A 3-day mini-camp for youngsters ages 4–5, in which they learn about a variety of topics through crafts, hikes, stories and other activities. These will be offered several times throughout the year.
