Ask the Doc: A Wake County Townhall

Ask The Doc Event

The Ask the Doc Townhall series began in 2021 amid COVID-19 as a way for the public to virtually connect with health professionals and get their burning questions answered related to the pandemic. Since then, Ask the Doc has moved to in-person events, both in English and Spanish, to address a wide variety of health topics. These events bridge the gap between medical knowledge and public understanding, empowering community members to make informed decisions about their health and well-being. All Townhalls are filmed and posted on Wake County's YouTube page.

Hosted quarterly, each session features a panel of local medical professionals who share their expertise and engage with residents to discuss health concerns. HealthLit4Wake welcomes new partnerships and hosts Ask the Doc Townhalls in a variety of community spaces. To collaborate on a future event, please contact kate.broadwell@wake.gov

Upcoming Town Halls

Our panel of experts will be sharing important information on preventing chronic diseases through nutrition, exercise, stress management and more. Panelists will also discuss the latest COVID and Flu vaccines. Have burning questions? Participate in an interactive Q&A session and get answers directly from our knowledgeable panel of medical providers.

Join us on Tuesday, Dec. 10, at 10 a.m. at the Mexican Consulate (431 Raleigh View Road, Raleigh) for the Spanish Ask the Doc Town Hall.

Previous Town Halls

The August Ask the Doc Town Hall was titled "Fall Into Wellness" and focused on preventative health screenings and vaccines as we transition into fall.

If you missed attending in-person, you can watch the full event below.

On August 15 and August 20, 2024, HealthLit4Wake held their quarterly Ask the Doc Town Halls in English and Spanish. This event series aims to improve access to free health information in the community by bringing together a panel of experts to discuss pertinent health topics and share resources. This month’s topic was “Fall into Wellness: Staying on Top of Essential Health Screenings and Vaccines,” which discussed preventative health screenings and other ways to stay healthy this fall.

The English Ask the Doc, hosted at Alliance Medical Ministry, was moderated by Dr. Rasheeda Monroe and a panel of experts including Dr. Stefanie Etienne, Dr. Edwin Burkett and Dr. Jacqueline Hicks.

The Town Hall was also held in Spanish, hosted at the Mexican Consulate on August 20, moderated by María Sánchez, the La Ventanilla de Salud Coordinator, and included Dr. Theresa Flynn, Dr. Alejandra Bustillo and Elizabeth Canas.
