Sheltering in Place

  • Go Inside, Stay Inside – a shelter in place order means that you should immediately go indoors. If you are already inside, stay there.
  • Often sheltering in place provides the best protection.

Evacuation

  • In the unlikely event that an emergency at the Harris Nuclear Power Plant requires you to evacuate your home, emergency officials will provide information and instructions.
  • Listen to local radio or television stations and follow evacuation instructions.
  • Individuals who are not within the declared evacuation area should not evacuate. They should continue to monitor the event and follow the instructions of the local authorities.
  • Evacuating when not required has the potential to increase the risk to your family and others by creating more outbound traffic and slowing the evacuation from the affected area.
